Back-Up Wedding Guest Lists

Back-Up Wedding Guest Lists

Back-Up Wedding Guest Lists
You needn't write up the invitations in advance, but you should be ready to write them up quickly. Plus, the closer it gets to the wedding, the less notice people will have and they may find it increasingly difficult to be able to attend. The less obvious it is that someone is on your back-up list, the better. As people send their regrets, you should send out an invitation to the top person on your guest list immediately.

The reason for ranking them so specifically will be obvious from the next step. Remember that you always need to invite the spouse, fiance or live-in partner of anyone you invite. Then, you should take that list of people and rank them from first to fifteenth. So, if your wedding has 100 people, it should have about 10-15 people on it. Your back-up list should be about 10-15% of the size of your wedding.

You'll want to put together this list so that you can have the maximum number of people come to your wedding without "overbooking" your wedding and creating the very awkward situation where you don't have room for everyone you have invited. Don't worry, doing this isn't in any way rude. What this means is that you have some people whom you will invite if there is room, but they are not invited in the first tier of invitations. Once you've cut down your wedding guest list to the correct number, it's a good idea to put together a "back up" list.
